SYM is an independent puzzle-platformer video game, that takes social anxiety as its theme. You play as Josh, a weirdly figured teenage boy, who tries to reconcile a maze of two contrasting worlds that coexist within the blank spaces of each other – his perception of reality, and the world he created to avoid his fears.

The white-colored ground is the real world. The upside-down world, the negative, represents Josh's psychological world. Together, in one reality, they create a landscape of puzzles and platforms which the player must properly utilize in order to progress.

Thus, the universe that is created within the game, consists of black and white spaces. Naturally, we identify black sections as surfaces of built space and surfaces one can stand upon. In SYM however, these strict boundaries become loose as the white sections obtain such characteristics as well.
