Participation in the project “Remembering: Memories from my city” for the citizens’ information and awareness of the new Museum, within the framework of “Complete Urban Development Interventions in Local Small Scale Zones – Publicity - Awareness”.

“Remembering: Memories from my city” is an example involving artists in mediating between the target groups concerned and the museum. In order to inform and make the citizens aware of the new Museum, the Municipal Center  for Historical Research and Documentation (DIKI) with the coordination of Mrs. Ioanna Touloupi, a film director and set designer, carried out interviews with the inhabitants of the western districts of the city and organized a series of encouragement festivities, based on the experiences of the citizens, as they were narrated during the interviews.

Local entrepreneurs were invited to be interviewed about their life in Volos. Based on the information thus gained about their experiences in and personal stories from the districts, a series of four events was organized at various locations around the city. These events treated of everyday life, using testimonies, objects and memories. Each event introduced a new element, in addition to the previous event’s exhibits. The basic idea was to create a kind of street museum in progress.

The art forms selected for mediation at these events included installation, theatrical animation, collage and photography.

LECAD recorded both the interviews and the festivities on video and made a DVD with characteristic material from the interviews and the festivities.
