The exhibition “The European Acoustic Heritage” was designed in the framework of the European research program European Acoustic Heritage, of the “Culture” program of the European Union, aiming at discovering and enhancing the soundscapes of Europe. In this program participated the following institutions: the escoitar collective from Spain, the French research center CRESSON, the School of Architetcure of Grenoble, France, the audiovisual archive Phonogrammarchiv of Austria, the Academy of Applied Science of Vienna, Austria, the Applied Science University of Tampere, Finland, the center of cultural industries AGADIC, Spain.
The European Acoustic Heritage exhibition aimed to show some aspect related with the research carried out during the last two years. Through different sound installations it covers both general issues about european acoustic memory as more specific subjects linked with the water soundscapes case study. It has been designed as a traveling and growing exhibition, a work in progress integrating specific projects developed by each partner and it has been itinerated in Tampere, Grenoble, Brussels, Volos and Santiago de Compostela.
The exhibition includes the following interactive installations:
Sounds are pert of our everyday life. We hear them, we listen to them and we produce them continuously. They are closely related to our language, our culture and our environment and they define every day parts of our immaterial heritage. This exhibition aims at investigating this heritage at European level through several interactive installations.
