Biography

Antonis Antoniou was born in 1981 in Volos. He studied History and Archaeology at the University of Ioannina,  Greece and did postgraduate studies in History and Social Archaeology at the University of Thessaly. He received his PhD from the same university in 2016. He has worked as a researcher in the project "Thalis-DeMuCiV, Designing the Museum of the city of Volos", as a collaborator of the Laboratory of Environmental Communication and Audiovisual Documentation-LECAD,  Department of Architectural Engineering (TAM), University of Thessaly (2013-2014) and in the framework of the project "Housing policies and habitation practices in emergency conditions in the city of Volos", TAM, UTH (1922-2015). Currently, he is conducting interviews for the project "Memories of Occupation in Greece" at the Free University of Berlin and teaches "History of Colonialism" at the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology (IAKA), University of Thessaly. He is also involved in the recording of oral testimonies in the research project "The (Digital) Politis-Memory of Stavros Konstantakopoulos, of LECAD. His research interests focus on colonialism, contemporary political history and history of ideas, nationalism and local history.
