A graduate of the Department of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Diploma, 2002), he received his MPhils on architecture and the moving image from the Department of Architecture of the University of Cambridge (2003), and on architectural theory from the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens (2004). He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (2010). His doctoral dissertation examines images of the interwar socialist city, rendered in different representational means -i.e., literature, drama, photography, painting, with a special focus on cinema- and their role in advocating architectural modernity. Stavros has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on the filmic representation of architecture and the urban landscape, and on theory and history of art and architecture at various departments in Greece. He has published extensively on the representation of architecture and the city, edited collections of scholarly essays, and participated in film/design festivals and art exhibitions with short moving-image projects.
